The first construction on [[east_harbor|East Harbor]] was the double Island Fortress of Imperial Navy Ouptost #1 in the mouth of the Orróduinë, or [[east_river|East River]].  Working with the natural estuaries, the center two islands were fortified and joined by a drawbridge so high that it doesn't need lifted to allow ships to sail the center channel; it is only moved to separate the forts. The forts are joined to the shore with drawbridges, which if lifted allow passage in the outer channels as well.
