The Red Mountains have their Southern end at the [[elflands|elflands]] city of [[wild_mountains|Wild Mountains]], nominal capital city of the [[white_eagle_kagonesti_tribe|White Eagle Kagonesti Tribe]] on the [[kagonesti_basin|Kagonesti Basin]].

From there they stretch Northwards, more or less separating the Northeastern seaboard of Endórë (Middle Earth) from [[palisor|Palisor]], the great Northeastern steppe lands.  Passing between the [[imperial_timber_operation|Imperial timber]] operations on the [[gulf_of_the_firstborn|Gulf of the Firstborn]] at [[in38|IN#38]] and [[in39|IN#39]] and the [[church_of_eru|Church of Eru Ilùvatar]]'s first heritage site at [[ce1|CE#1]] on the remnant of Lake Cuiviénen where the first Elves awoke, it extends into the ice and snow of the Farthest North.
