  • A cloaking helm allows the spelljamming mage to divert power from moving the ship to enveloping the entire vessel in an illusion of empty space. While this “cloak of invisibility” prevents the ship from being seen from a distance, it does not inhibit the spelljamming mage from observing the ships' surroundings. The invisibility cloak can be maintained for a maximum of thirty minutes a day (24 hour period) and can only be activated when the ship is at tactical speed. Standard invisibility rules apply: if the cloaked ship attacks using a ram or missile weapons, any contact with the illusion causes it to dissipate, though a cloaked ship does gains a + 4 bonus to surprise rolls when entering battle. This can be especially devastating if the ship rams while cloaked.
