The Sea of Illuin, which divides Endórë's Northern coast, is thought by many to have been caused in the breaking when the Valar cast down Utumno and Angabad and dragged Morgoth from the world in chains.

The volcano in the middle rises up from the seafloor, and strange sea beasts often wash ashore. Fishermen everywhere are lost from time to time, but so many are lost in the Sea of Illuin that few dare sail far out of sight of shore.
