Artano Paurgiliath's Character Sheet

Calmacila and Artano are fraternal twins, children of Thalion’s by Haelia Everstar, an exceptionally smart Court Wizard in the service of Daelda, the King of the Elves on Harn. The twins' mother died with King Daelda in the fall of Harn when the royal palace was destroyed by aerial bombardment.

Thalion and Haelia hoped that the twins would use their intelligence to grow up to be powerful mages, but while the intelligence bred true, from their earliest days the twins spent all their free time in smithies.

Old Aelfinn Steelsfriend, King Daelda's farrier, swore that they would be the greatest smiths he had ever known. Both could predictably make properly sized shoes before their 50th birthdays. Artano kept a fondness for horses, and Calmacila still maintains her own team of well trained oxen.

With adolescence, the twins' different personalities became more noticeable. They trained in the Paurgiliath Peacekeepers school on Harn, and kept their obsession with the hammer and anvil, but Artano's steady calm nature led him to increasingly specialize in armor, while Calmacila's fiery nature led her to pursue the cutting edge of weaponsmithing. Since they were both already prodigies, these obsessions were cultivated.

By the time they were nearing adulthood they had learned what the teachers they had available could teach, and traveled extensively to train under the best smiths that could be found.

In their young adulthood, they explored the ruins of the far off jungles of Thónia, seeking ancient metalworking secrets. Artano returned with a disfiguring facial scar and Agni's Red Ax, and Calmacila came back with a pair of Thónian jungle cats, resembling green furred leopards, who obey her like hounds. They haven't shared whatever metalworking lore they found, but they returned to the forges with a vengeance, quickly rising to the top of their respective professions. The death of their mother and fall of their birthworld just fixed them more tightly on their paths.

The other master smiths in the Free Imperia have all worked with them at one time or another, and are very impressed, but left with the feeling that their obsessions perhaps border on the unhealthy. Except for Artano's guard dogs and Calmacila's oxen and Thónian jungle cats, they have very little in the way of interests away from the forge. They seek to assure Arda's future through superior metalworking.
