The naval fort and lighthouse on the tip of Longclaw Point guards the Northern end of the entrance to the Great Sylvanesti Bay, and the Southern approach to the Kagonesti Basin. Wading birds migrate through in great numbers, along with ducks, and sea lions have a large, well established rookery here.

A strong harbor is breakwalled inside the point, with a significant protective squadron. Traffic on the Great Inland Waterway routinely rounds the point between legs. To the North, the Silver River brings barges of Imperial Timber down from Argentum Capita through the Kagonesti Basin, and Southern lines enter Great Sylvanesti Bay at New Silvan and Semboch.
