The great saltwater port of Odin's Folk, OF#2 is a fortified port on the NE shore of the Dargonesti Sound. The Harbor-Jarl, senior shipwright of Odin's Folk, an aged elf from Alfheim, oversees the outpost's administration along with directing the shipyards where he practices his craft. His best one-time apprentice runs the shipyards in Vestrhelm, but being human, may not live to inherit. Many long-hulled craft are built here, both for oceangoing and river use. Removable beasts or dragons on carved prow-posts are common. While most are square-rigged, with a single large sail and banks of oars, interaction with other sailing cultures has led to experiments with new rigging styles. Some two and three masters are being built, sometimes lateen or gaff rigged, and spinnakers and studding sails are used on some conventional craft. Small purpose-grown hulls from the Krynnic elves to the North are highly coveted as ships' boats and pleasure craft. Some portion of Odin's Folk on the long journey between Vestrhelm and Black Rock travel part of the way by water, sailing through Harnia North to Quilinestia or the Mist-Rib Lakes before journeying onwards overland. Abundant inns and markets dot the streets here, as well as hiring fairs where captains can take on crews or guards. Shark is considered a delicacy, and fish from the Sound accompany forage and hunting from the forests to supplement the food that trade brings in. Pirate hunting is a popular sport, and anything from single dragonships to small armadas set off Southward, providing unpredictable but welcome assistance to the Imperial Navy. Moderate quantities of fairly high quality leatherwork and weapon and armor smithing happen here as well.
